[Sold]Rolex, 18k Pink Gold Bubbleback Ref. 3130/3372, Glossy Black Dial Circa 1940's

$0.00

A lovely and scarcely seen 18k pink gold Bubbleback, with a rare and desirable glossy black dial with gilt text.

Case: 32 mm 18k pink gold case

Dial: glossy black dial, gilt text, applied faceted 18k pink gold hour markers

Movement: self-winding movement

Bracelet: calf leather strap

Condition: The 18k pink gold case has certainly been polished in the past - any remnants of a case number have been wiped out, and the only indication of a serial is a “350” lightly etched between the lugs at the 6 o’ clock position. The lugs show age as well, with surface scratches throughout. That being said, the Helvetia gold mark just beside the crown remains crisp and legible. The small decipherable “G” below it indicates that this watch’s gold composition was confirmed to be at least 18k in purity by the precious metal assayer’s office in Geneva. This is further reinforced by the interior “0.750-18k” mark on the interior of the caseback, alongside a cool dual reference 3372/3130(the working theory is that Rolex just used whatever parts they had on hand at that moment). I’ve seen very few other examples of “black gilt” dials on bubblebacks, with chronometer text varying in placement. There seem to be central seconds examples as well. Movement runs at time of listing. Service history is unknown and timekeeping is not measured/guaranteed. Servicing is recommended.
